Homeless Individual

I am a homeless individual and decided to live in the downtown area of Phoenix, Arizona. I decided to live there because in this place there are more tourists and more money. The concentric zone model helped me decide where my location would be, zone one is the central business. I chose to locate myself in the central zone part of the city where more people are visiting because of the design and structures of the buildings. My exact location where I would sleep would be outside the bars, clubs, and restaurants to facilitate my begging and follow my diet.  Every time I ask someone for a dollar they say, “Yes here you go sir.” With the money I make in one day I go buy myself some fresh fruits from the markets. The downtown area is growing fast that is why I decided to live there; there is transportation available like the light rail, taxis, and buses. There is also less crime in this area because more patrol cars will be supervising the area to stop crime. The environment is greener than before which makes it more pleasant. There are Internet signals at almost everywhere around the downtown part of the city; the problem is that I would have to beg for money a lot more to be able to afford a laptop.

Phoenix has been on construction the last few years to make the downtown area a more habitual place. The Civic Space Park that is located across from Arizona State University is an example that the city wants to improve on how it looks. Also other buildings that were built make it look more clean and newer. Overall the changes that brought my decision to locate in this area are that perhaps the downtown area keeps growing more so more people can check it out and help out if they can.

  1. I am not sure if sleeping outside of bars and nightclubs in downtown Phoenix would be a good idea even if you are homeless. Maybe sleeping under a bridge or near food places would help since you could have access to food and also have some protection at night.

  2. Wow your story is really sad. I often think that there are homeless people going to school but I never really met one. I agree that getting enough money for a laptop would be pretty hard. However the downtown area isn't really as safe as you think. There are a lot of people looking for trouble and may or may not have any regards for innocent bystanders. I was homeless in the past, I went downtown and you have to make it a point to isolate from things because of the crime that happens. However, it is extremely beautiful, eccentric and full of opportunity and you should market yourself for what its worth. Good luck. I wish I could help you in a way you would need help. There are tons of community resources my group discovered in a class last semester, if you would like to know about them let me know. My email is agracia1@asu.edu God Bless
